Twin/full: Make 2 using 5 units and 2 using 8 units.

Queen: Make 2 using 8 units and 2 using 11 units.

3. Sew a 2½˝ × width of fabric background strip to a short end of each of the pieced border strips. Press.

4. Measure the length of the quilt top. Trim away the excess background strip so the longer pieced borders are the same length. Sew the borders to the long sides of the quilt, arranging the pieced sections at the top right and bottom left edges of the quilt. Press outward.

5. Measure the width of the quilt top. Trim away the excess background strip so the longer pieced borders are the same length. Sew the borders to the short sides of the quilt, arranging the pieced sections at the top right and bottom left edges of the quilt. Press outward.

6. Add another round of borders using the 3½˝ border strips and the technique from Step 1. Press.

FINISHING

1. Layer the top, batting, and backing and quilt as desired.

2. Add the binding. (See General Instructions.)
